LOS ANGELES,
new center of world culture

(con't from front page) Athens was the first center of world culture. I should say western center because Babylon was the first real culture center. However, it did not have any influence on western culture. Unless, of course, one considers the patriarch Abraham who lived there until God told him to move to the promised land(or so I’m told). But as far as western culture goes, Athens was the first center. The second was Rome. The capital of Roman Empire and the Renaissance. Then Paris(the intoxicating perfume still lingers). New York City (a lot of writer’s still think it to be true). Now it is Los Angeles. I can hear the screams go up(especially from New York and Paris). It’s understandable. But we are a media driven world now. Images. Image is the great teacher. People receive most of their information about the world they live in from images. Los Angeles dominates the media, it is the center of film, television, and music. Everyone involved in media must come to, if not live in LA, in order to be successful. A global perspective is evolving and despite the attacks on the dominance of Los Angeles, it remains it. Sorry. Move and groove or loose.
